Whanganui Coastal action plan: community conversation

Whanganui District Council is developing a Coastal Action Plan for the areas from the North Mole to Kai Iwi.

DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO 30 July at 5pm.

Some drop-in sessions are being held in June.

Issues that you may want to raise:

  • Vehicles on beaches and dunes
  • Dogs (on or off leash)
  • Cats (that come in especially during the night)
  • Weeds and pests
  • Sand sweeping at Castlecliff carpark
  • Replacement of the buildings (surf club and Duncan Pavilion)
  • Iwi uses and tikanga. Kai moana
  • Paths
  • Noise
  • Native birds, plants, lizards, insects, ecosystems etc. Biodiversity.

It was emphasised that they don’t just want to hear about the problems but also how you would like to see the area(s), i.e. solutions.
