Location of main site: Onetangi Beach, Waiheke Island, Auckland
Purpose of group: Run by Onetangi Beach Ratepayers Assn (OBRA), this group is helping to restore and protect Onetangi Beach and our precious sand dunes. Environmental and community based volunteering.
OBRA is an environmental focussed organisation whose prime interest is the health and well being of Onetangi Beach and the beach environment.
OBRA has organised dune planting initiatives for the past ten or so years, taking over from some individual OBRA members who had previously organised it off their own bat for some fifteen years previous to that. Our programme is to plant between 1500-2000 dune plants annually with the last planting in September last year.
